“We live in a wonderful world that is full of beauty, charm, and adventure. There is no end to the adventures we can have if only we seek them with our eyes open.” –Jawaharlal Nehru
This short trip from Rush to Hush is one of my favorites, not because of the serene beauty I witnessed but because I traveled with the two best people.
Dandiganahalli dam is another unexplored jewel in the vicinity of Bangalore in Chikbalapur district. The serene waters of the dam and a good trek up the hill serves as a perfect recipe for a weekend munch. One can reach here without breaking a sweat. If visiting during monsoon season these mountains are engulfed by the clouds providing for a nice landscape for photographers as well as trekking enthusiasts.

The distance to Dandiganahalli dam from Bangalore is around 90-100kms ride,it took us quite some time to cover it. As we left Bangalore the weather was cool & pleasant. As we approached Devanahalli, we could see the mighty Nandi Hills shrouded in mist giving it a mystical appearance. We left around 4:00 am and reached Dandiganahalli dam at 6:30am.

So basically, this off-road trip was to give a perfect end to my friend’s birthday. For this, we decided to get some pastries for him and asked to cut between the mountains. The view was mesmerizing- mountains and water bodies all around. It is a perfect place for bird watching, photography, and trekking in nearby mountains.

We spent around 2-3 hours clicking each-other (getting clicked mostly) and exploring the nearby mountains. By the time we were about to leave we could see other riders visiting the dam for trekking and photography.
It was around 9 am we were very hungry as we just had pastries so we decided to leave and on our ride back we stopped at a South Indian restaurant to have breakfast. Around 11:30 am we reached all tired and crashed in our nests.

The freedom of the open road is seductive, serendipitous and liberating.
This was another amazing trip to a new reservoir near Chikkbalapur. The past few trips had turned out well and it made us feel good. This trip saw some crazy moments, but it was bound to happen. Cheers to an amazing trip!
